Hi there,

Need some help with a fresh Windows 10 installation on Azulle Byte 3.  I tried to do a fresh installation of Windows 10 using the October 2020 ISO.  The installation went smoothly onto an M.2 SSD.  I have a Windows 10 Pro license so I install the Pro version.

Upon booting up, there are a bunch of unknown devices.  Windows Update took care most of them.  By the end of the day, there are two unknow devices (one seems to be Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework driver) , and one problematic device (NxpNfcClientDrive).

The critical issue is that there is no sleep option.  Running powercfg -a shows:

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Standby (S3)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Hibernate
The system firmware does not support hibernation.

Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

Hybrid Sleep
Standby (S3) is not available.
Hibernation is not available.

Fast Startup
Hibernation is not available.

I have tried drivers downloaded from Azulle FTP server.  Still no sleep function.  Any advise?  Thanks.

It sounds like you are on version 20H2, this version is still optional and may have issues with drivers that have not yet been updated. When available, these drivers will be automatically served by the Windows Update service through the Windows driver store. It is recommended you install Windows 10 Pro version 2004, and wait until the update is no longer 'optional' in the Windows Update panel.

Thanks for the suggestion.  So I tried a fresh installation of Windows 10 May Update (2004) - same result, still no sleep function, and same three problematic devices.

Puzzled, I decided to restore the machine to factory image.  I used the Azulle image file: AB3_Win10Pro_1809.zip.  The restoration went smoothly.  But weirdly, it is still the same result.  What could be a reason?  Any further suggestions?  The only thing I did to this Byte 3 is added an M.2 SSD.

Thanks.

Only thing I could think of is if the sleep state function is disabled in the BIOS - you can go to the BIOS and navigate to the Save & Exit tab, then use the function to reset all settings to default (don't forget to set your M.2 as the primary boot device if you have Windows running off it), this would remove any chance of it being a BIOS setting. The recovery package you used is an older one but should certainly have worked (it contains all of the proper drivers).

If resetting the BIOS to default still does not work, please send me the current BIOS version (Shown in the BIOS as the Project Version, or during the splash screen on POST), and I will see if we have an updated package available for your device.

Thanks

That is the issue - Resetting the BIOS did the trick.  Somehow the option of Suspend to RAM was disable, probably because the machine was used as a server before.

Matter of fact, Windows October 2020 update works just fine.  All drivers are updated through Windows.
